Mohs surgery is a procedure used to treat skin cancer. This particular procedure is also known as Mohs micrographic surgery. During this surgery the skin is examined and removed layer by layer, with each layer being subject to microscopic scrutiny to determine if it is cancerous. All the cancerous layers of skin are removed leaving only healthy cancer-free skin in the wake of the procedure. Mohs surgery has been invaluable to untold numbers of people diagnosed with skin cancer.

Moreover, Mohs surgery is a vast improvement over older methods of treating and removing skin cancer as it aims to only get rid of cancerous tissue while inflicting the least amount of damage to healthy non-cancerous skin. While Mohs surgery is much more precise than regular surgical excision, it is still an invasive procedure and as such it leaves behind scarring. Mohs surgery can be done using only local anesthesia, but Mohs scars can still arise from this technique.

People who have undergone Mohs surgery and have a Mohs scar or scars have already gone to great expense in order to avoid any unnecessary invasiveness, so why would anyone subject themselves to an invasive method of scar treatment?

The overall appearance of Mohs scars can benefit greatly from a topical scar gel or scar cream. Mohs surgery can give rise to keloid scarring, even keloids which are arguably some of the most difficult scars to treat and manage, can be addressed with a silicone scar gel. A silicone scar gel can help to diminish the look of Mohs scars, of any kind, without risking any damage to the skin. With gels available that have no risk of potentially dangerous side effects, there are few if any obstacles when it comes to using a scar management gel.

Not only are topical scar gels inexpensive but they are also far easier to use than practically any other scar treatment option available today. Some people may regard topical scar products such as scar gels and scar creams as ineffective in helping to improve the look of scars. Yet, some topical scar products contain effective ingredients such as silicone’s which have been shown to help reduce the look of Mohs scars and other typical scars.

Dealing with a Mohs scar or scars does not have to be a challenge or great undertaking, to see visible results in the look of such scars can be as easy as applying a scar gel once or twice every day.

Mohs scars are no different than scars that form from any other type of surgery, the scarring of wounds and injuries is uncontrollable, and the only thing that can be controlled is the manner in which people choose to address scarring. If you want to have total control over reducing the look of your Mohs scars then look into topical scar gels and creams, in using such scar products you have sole discretion in addressing and helping to improve the look of your Mohs scars.
